Savoyard Books opened in 1997. Originally called Cookson's Internet Bookshop, we changed our name to Savoyard Books in 1999. We specialise in books, CDs and videos to do with Gilbert and Sullivan, but we also stock many more titles which will interest you. The short description of each item will help you to be sure that the book you've found is really what you're looking for.
Buying from us is no more expensive than buying direct from Amazon.
Amazon.com operates from the United States, Amazon.co.uk and iMVS from the United Kingdom, and Amazon.de from Germany. This means that customers of Savoyard Books can acquire books, CDs and videos from any of these sources. Naturally, Amazon.com will be the initial choice for our customers in the USA and Canada, because of the shipping charges. Amazon.co.uk, iMVS, or Amazon.de will be the initial choice for our European customers, for the same reason. However, if you don't find what you want in your search of your preferred database, then you can always try another one. Amazon.co.uk boasts a database which includes every British book in print - you're sure to find it ! But remember that you can't "mix-and-match" orders from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de and iMVS - they are separate companies, and you must keep your orders separate.
Amazon.com offers our customers a safe option for Internet purchases : The Netscape Secure Commerce Server, which encrypts any information you type in. If you prefer not to submit your payment on the Internet, you can telephone or fax your credit-card number, or pay by check. Amazon.co.uk offers a high standard of encryption via the SSL security features on its server, including authentication, encryption and data integrity checks. As with Amazon.com, you can submit your order by fax or by post if you prefer.
Simon Murdoch, managing director of Amazon.co.uk, says "Companies that receive credit card information need to be very careful about what they do with the details they have received. Not one of our 4·5 million customers has reported a problem by using a credit card on our site."

Why you should you buy from us
Amazon pays a commission to us on most of our sales. This enables us to maintain the service we offer you, selecting books and giving you the information you need to help you make the decision to buy.
However, some of the rarer books in our shop are listed by the publishers as "out of print", which means they are unavailable from high-street sources. Amazon.com offers a second-hand book-finding service. Order your book in the usual way, by clicking on the 
icon next to your book. A search is made of used bookstores, and an order update is sent to you within a week. When Amazon.com locate a copy of your book, they'll send you a price quote. They'll attempt to acquire the book only after you confirm your wish to purchase.
We do not receive any commission on this type of sale. What we get from our ordinary sales helps us to continue to list these rarer books. This enables you, our customer, to make your choice not only from titles which are readily available, but also from those titles which are no longer accessible by ordinary means.

icon next to the title you've chosen. This will take you through to Amazon or iMVS - indeed, it will take you directly to the Amazon or iMVS page for that particular book, CD or video. There you'll find up-to-date details of the price, any discount which is available - often between 10% and 30% ! - and shipping availability. Titles are usually shipped within 2-3 days. Add the item to your shopping basket - you can always change your mind later - and return to Savoyard Books by using the "Back" button on your browser, or continuing to browse in the vast Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk database. When you've got all you want in your shopping basket, it's time to go to the check-out, so select "Buy Items Now" at the bottom of any page.
